Sweet, fresh and tangy, the pomelo is similar to a grapefruit but with a lighter flavor. Pomelos can be eaten raw or cooked into a variety of dishes, and pomelo essential oil is a key ingredient in aromatherapy, high-quality beauty products and some food and beverage applications.

Pomelos can also help you lose weight: They contain fat-burning enzymes that decrease sugar and starch in the body, yet are filling and help prevent overeating.

Pomelos originated from Southeast Asia and today grow in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California as well as Australia and the Philippines. The pomelo is the largest citrus fruit, measuring between 10 and 30 centimeters in diameter and weighing up to 3 kilograms (6.61 pounds). Its skin color ranges from light green to yellow, with a thick pith that protects its flesh. The flesh also differs in color, from white to rose-red depending on the variety.

In aromatherapy, the scent of pomelo oil can reduce stress, lower blood pressure and balance mood, and may also suppress appetite and promote weight loss. In skin care, pomelo oil promotes softer, fresher and more youthful looking skin. Exceptionally nourishing and protective, pomelo oil contains bromelain, keratin and vitamin C – important nutrients that cleanse the skin, fight acne, improve skin elasticity and diminish hyperpigmentation. Thanks to its antiseptic qualities, pomelo oil can also be used on cuts and scrapes to protect against infection.
